Shaun Pollock took 4-18 and Boeta Dippenaar and Mark Boucher hit half-centuries as South Africa beat a Jamaica XI by 29 runs in a warm up on Thursday for the one-day series against the West Indies.
Dippenaar, who opened the batting, was the top scorer with 64 after South Africa won the toss and reached 245 off 50 overs. Jamaica was bowled out for 216 in 46,1 overs.
Dippenaar hit nine fours and two sixes off 74 balls.
Wicketkeeper Boucher chipped in with 59 off 72 balls to lift the middle order. He struck seven boundaries.
There were also meaningful knocks from Ashwell Prince (32) and Justin Kemp (21). But Herschelle Gibbs, who endured a lean Test series, was dismissed for just 8.
Fast bowler Jermaine Lawson did his chances of a West Indies recall no harm with a return of 4-39 off 10 overs.
Offspinner Bevon Brown claimed 4-41 from 10.
Pollock wrecked the Jamaican reply, which slumped to 27-3.
Pollock snared 4-18 off eight overs. Fast bowler Andre Nel, who missed the fourth Test because of a back injury, had an encouraging 2-36 off seven overs.
Tyson Gordon, in his first match for Jamaica, slammed six fours and two sixes in a topscore of 70 off 102 balls.
But his main support came only from Brown, whose late flurry included three sixes and a four in an unbeaten 37.
The first of five one-day internationals between West Indies and South Africa is at Sabina Park on Saturday, with the second match on Sunday at the same venue. – Sapa-AP
