THE Johannesburg Stock Exchange experienced another record day on Monday, as new highs on the financial and industrial indices saw the all share index hit a new record high of 7 490,8, up 46,8 points over the day, based somewhat on market expectations of good credit extension and money supply figures.
Industrials added 71,5 points to take their tally to 9 125,9, while the financial index gained 31,9 points to 10 491,3. Even embattled gold shares played their part as the bullion price rose slightly, with the gold index climbing 2,2% or 21 points to 991, reigniting hopes the index can climb back above 1 000 points.
