AMNESTY hearings in Nelspruit were delayed by more than five hours on Monday when key witnesses got lost on their way to Nelspruit. The hearings had still not begun by 2pm but Truth and Reconciliation Commission officials were confident that the lost witnesses would arrive in Nelspruit in time to testify. The witnesses are supposed to substantiate an amnesty application by convicted murderer and the Inkatha Freedom Party’s former leader in Pongola, Anthony Mhletshwa Ndlangamandla (29). Ndlangamandla is serving a 10-year jail sentence in Barberton Maximum Security Prison for hacking his African National Congress counterpart to death in 1993.
