REBEL soldiers loyal to General Ansumane Mane on Tuesday retreated north of Guinea-Bissau’s capital as loyalist troops and allies from Senegal and Guinea advanced, informed sources said here.Heavy fighting with artillery and small-arms moved north towards the airport of Bissau, and the sources said shelling no longer threatened the city center.Hospital and other sources earlier reported that at least 35 people had been killed and more than 200 injured after renewed conflict broke out Sunday in Guinea-Bissau’s capital, ahead of moves to implement a ceasefire and political agreement.The latest fighting began on Sunday after a three-month truce.
