SOME 57% of potential voters have registered for the June 2 general elections, according to latest figures published by the Independent Electoral Commission on Thursday. The IEC figures show that more than 15-million voters had registered by 9am on Thursday. Provincial breakdowns show the Western Cape lagging with 47,2% of voters registered, and Mpumalanga still leading with 65,3%. In the other provinces, Gauteng has registered 63,4%, Northern Province 60,3%, North-West 59,2%, Free State 59%, and Northern Cape 58,1%.
