ALL national parks across South Africa will use the millennium weekend at the end of the year to double their rates as part of a major fund-raising drive. Richard Willys, the director of commercial development and tourism at the South African National Parks, said on Tuesday that tariffs would be doubled between December 30 and January 1 to raise money for conservation. “Nature conservation and, in particular, the land acquisition project for Addo Elephant National Park will benefit from this initiative,” he said. Bookings and reservations to spend the most publicised New Year’s celebration in history at a national park would be confirmed during this month and that preference will be given to reservations covering the full three-day period.
