A JOINT team of the Heath Special Investigative Unit, the Public Protector and the Auditor-General on Monday began investigating allegations of corruption against the Gauteng housing department. Officials from the three units, as well senior members of the housing department, addressed a Johannesburg press conference to announce to start of the investigation. This followed the signing of a proclamation authorising the investigation by Deputy-President Thabo Mbeki on April 29.
