TOP COPS IN CORRUPTION PROBE

A NUMBER of senior police officers, including five at the rank of director and higher, have been targeted in a new probe into corruption in the South African Police Service, 702 Talk Radio reported on Wednesday morning. The station said several of the policemen are alleged to have accepted bribes from crime syndicates. The anti-corruption unit has not yet established if the allegations against the SAPS members are true. The crackdown came after former president Nelson Mandela said late last week that a number of senior policemen were suspected of corruption, the station said.
