A NEW R20-million soya processing plant is being built in northern KwaZulu-Natal, and is expected to benefit local farmers by up to R500 per ton of soya, as well as giving them shares in the new plant. Construction of the plant, which is the initiative of Natalse Landbou Kooperasie, starts next month near Dannhauser, and it should be up and running by early next year, creating in the region of 15 long-term jobs. The plant is expected to handle 6000 tons in the first year of operation. Expansion will increase this to 12 000 next year.
