BRITISH magazine publishing group EMAP said on Wednesday that it will launch its men’s lifestyle magazine FHM in South Africa in November in a joint venture with a local partner. EMAP will spend 400000 as it teams up with National Magazines of South Africa to produce the monthly digest of everything from fashion to film, music to motors, sports to sex tips. The magazine, re-launched by EMAP in 1994 to cater for the surging demand in Britain for men’s magazines, already sells 750000 copies in Britain making it the leader in the men’s magazine market. It has already been launched in France, and plans are afoot for a US edition as well.
