POLICE say the investigation into the assassination of liberal Afrikaner theologian, Professor Johann Heyns has been completed, and that the docket will be forwarded to the National Director of Public Prosecutions within a month. Police have identified a suspect or suspects and possible motive for the mysterious murder of the ex-moderator of the NG Kerk on the evening on November 5, 1994. Heyns was playing cards with his grandchildren in his kitchen when a sniper shot him through the window. The police said the involvement in the murder of the Directorate of Covert Collections of the former SA Defence Force constituted an important part of the investigation. The suspects were named in the docket, according to investigating officer Capt Andre Nel of the Pretoria murder and robbery unit.
