THREE black pupils in a tour group from an exclusive English public school were barred from a Dundee nightclub in northern KwaZulu-Natal this week. The bouncer let in the rest of the group of 36 pupils, but told the black students: “You can’t enter because you don’t have membership cards.” None of the other scholars from King’s Bruton boarding in Somerset were asked for cards. Coming just weeks before KwaZulu-Natal celebrates the Anglo-Boer war centenary, the incident at the weekend could dampen a massive tourist boost for the area. The students, including two Kenyans and a Nigerian, are touring the 100-year-old battlefields in the area. The Nigerian student is reportedly the grandson of Nigerian President General Olesegun Obasanjo, but this has not been confirmed.
