BODY SHOP FOR SA

SOUTH African pharmaceutical company Pac-Creative has bought out United Kingdom cosmetics supplier The Body Shop’s Littlehampton manufacturing business. The deal means Pac-Creative will have bought R130-million of The Body Shop’s assets which will be paid for in cash on completion of the sale. The completion of the transaction is conditional on Reserve Bank approval — expected to be finalised by Febuary next year. Pac-Creative will become The Body Shop’s official product supplier. The 500 people currently employed by the manufacturing business, including management, will be transferred to the South African company once the deal is finalised. The transaction includes a multi-million rand, five year supply agreement for the development and supply of products, with guaranteed levels of business from The Body Shop each year.
