ACKERMAN TO MISS CUP FINAL

FORMER Springbok lock Johan Ackerman has been ruled out of the Bankfin Currie Cup rugby final after sustaining a neck injury at the Golden Lions’ training session on Tuesday. Ackerman twisted his neck while practising lineouts and a subsequent scan revealed he had damaged ligaments. It has been an unlucky season for Ackerman, who returned to rugby after a two-year suspension for use of illegal substances. He missed the Super-12 due to a hamstring injury, and was ruled out of Currie Cup action for two months with a dislocated elbow.
