THE National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA’s (Naamsa) August sales figures issued last week show that the new vehicle market has finally turned. The figures depict the highest monthly sales recorded for 1999 with total new vehicle sales for August amounting to 27398 units. Compared to August last year, the overall market showed an improvement of 7,5%. August new car sales of 17853, said Naamsa, were 9,6% up on the same month last year. Sales of light commercial vehicles and minibuses were at 8579 units, an improvement of 5,2% over the previous August, but down 3,2% from July.
