NIGERIAN President Olusegun Obasanjo has appointed a senior special aide to fight corruption and promote government transparency. E.A. Azikiwe, the son of first Nigerian president after independence, Nnamdi Azikiwe, was until the appointment a top diplomat in the Nigerian ministry of foreign affairs. In his inaugural speech on May 29 when he was sworn in as president, Obasanjo vowed to fight corruption and make transparency in government a major policy of his new administration.
