ERITREANS TO PROTEST ETHIOPIAN INVASION

ERITREAN civic groups will take to the streets early on Monday in what they say will be a “massive, peaceful” demonstration against Ethiopia’s inavasion of Eritrea and a UN arms embargo against the two warring east African nations. According to the Eritrean Civil Society Organisations, the demonstration is to “summon the attention of the international community to the human-made catastrophe facing Eritrea as the consequence of the Ethiopian invasion.” It states three main objectives: “To oppose Ethiopia’s invasion of a sovereign UN state; to protect against the continued betrayal of Eritrea by the international communty; to demand the UN Security Council take collective security measures and immediate punitive action to safeguard Eritrean sovereignty and restore peace.”
