PRISON WARDER HANGS HIMSELF

A DEPARTMENT of Correctional Services officer in New Hanover in KwaZulu-Natal, 24-year-old Ntutchuko Ngubane, has been discovered hanging from a tree in the veld near the town by farm labourers. Ngubane, who had been stationed at New Hanover prison for the past two years, “had behaved strangely” during his last shift, said a Prisons official: “He bid farewell to colleagues and tried to make peace with those he had wronged.” A farmer in the area claimed he had narrowly missed hitting Ngubane with his car when Ngubane ran into the road. When the farmer stopped, Ngubane ran into the veld.- Own Correspondent
