MAN CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING, RAPE

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for the abduction and rape of an 18-year-old woman in Krugersdorp earlier this week, West Rand police said on Friday. Inspector Yolande Bouwer said the woman and her boyfriend were walking along Ockerse Street in Krugersdorp around 11pm on Wednesday after visiting a tavern. A vehicle with five occupants stopped next to the couple. The driver threatened the boyfriend with a knife while another man forced the woman into the car. They took her to a house in Fifth Avenue in Krugersdorp North where she was raped throughout the night. The woman was released the next morning. The police followed up leads and one of the car’s occupants took the police to a taxi rank in Johannesburg where a man was arrested. He is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
