NIGERIAN army units on Saturday raided two villages and killed at least three people in the area where a massacre was committed late last month, a local reporter said. Uja Emmanuel, a reporter for the newspaper The Anchor, said army units had raided the villages of Abako and Moor on the border of Benue and Taraba states, killing at least three people and wounding many others. “I saw two bodies in Abako and one more at Moor,” Emmanuel said, by telephone from Makurdi, the Benue state capital. The full toll of the raid might have been higher, he said. The reports of the raid stoked tension in the region where army units late last month killed more than 200 people in retaliation for the killing of 19 soldiers by an ethnic militia. – AFP
