German firm launches baby-face pope doll

A German company on Wednesday launched a collector’s edition doll of Pope Benedict XVI, adorned with a baby’s face.

Only 999 of the individually numbered dolls have been made and it is available for €139 ($170) through the internet.

The 41cm-high doll is wearing white papal robes and carries a cross and, despite having a face that looks decades younger than the 78-year-old pope, it has grey hair and grey eyebrows.

”Its arms and legs can be moved” and ”its clothes are of a high quality and correspond exactly to the ‘originals’ of the Holy Father”, the manufacturers said.

The dolls have been created by the Schildkroet firm with the assistance of the Offermann dolls hospital.
