South Africa’s retail petrol price for all grades of petrol will decline by 30 cents a litre (c/l) from December 7, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday.
The wholesale price of diesel with 0,3% sulphur content will fall by 26c/l, while diesel with 0,05% sulphur content will cost 30c/l less on the same date.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will be fall by 30c/l, while the single maximum national retail price of illuminating paraffin will be decreased by 40c/l.
The latest adjustments bring the retail price of a litre of 93-octane petrol in Gauteng to R5,42 a litre and to R5,29 a litre at the coast.
During the review period, the average international prices of petroleum products decreased, while the average rand/dollar exchange rate weakened when compared with the previous period. The average rand/dollar exchange rate for the period was R6,6751, compared with R6,5734 in the previous averaging period.
The department approved a 5c/l increase in the slate levy applicable to all grades of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin with effect from December 7, to 15c/l. — I-Net Bridge
