Townsville Golf Club president Terry Walsh thought golfers reporting crocodiles on the course were hallucinating — until he saw them himself.
“For the last two years, the people I play golf with have been saying there were crocs on the course and I thought they were on drugs,” Walsh told the Australian Associated Press in the tropical northern city.
“Then when I saw them, I thought I must have been the one on drugs.”
Walsh said the crocodiles had usually been seen lazing around a pontoon in a water hazard, but he was concerned by a sighting of one of the reptiles next to the fairway.
Walsh said the dam contained eels and fish which provided the crocodiles, most of which were about one metre long, with a supply of food.
The report gave no indication of whether the reptiles would be allowed to remain on the 27-hole championship course as an additional hazard. – AFP
