The man who held eight people hostage and wounded a police officer at the Pretoria News building will appear in court on Monday on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of an unlicensed firearm, police said.
Inspector Paul Ramaloko said the 32-year-old man at the centre of the four-hour hostage drama at the newspaper offices in Pretoria on Wednesday would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
In the meantime, Pretoria News acting editor Zingisa Mkhuma said it was ”business as usual” at the newspaper on Thursday.
”Our advertising staff are receiving counselling and would take the rest of the day off, but in the newsroom everyone is working again,” she said.
Police were also at the newspaper offices on Thursday morning, taking further statements from eye-witnesses. — Sapa
