The electronic National Transport Information System (eNatis) is operating well countrywide, the National Road Public Management Corporation said on Wednesday.
The corporation manages eNatis on behalf of the Transport Department.
Corporation spokesperson Thabo Tsholetsane said the system is fully operational in all provinces, except in some areas where there are network problems.
”There was network problems in Langlaagte [south of Johannesburg] on Tuesday and technicians attended to it. The centre is fully operational today [Wednesday],” he said.
According to statistic received from traffic centres, more than 33 000 vehicles were registered on Tuesday, showing that the system was operating well.
There were media reports on Wednesday that hundreds of people wishing to apply for learner and driving licence tests were unable to secure a booking in Gauteng and the Western Cape because the system was too slow. – Sapa
