Some learners not impressed by isiZulu exam

Grade 12 learners wrote the National Senior Certificate isiZulu Home Language Paper 2 today, and not all the candidates were impressed.

Phili Nxumalo, grade 12 isiZulu educator at the Marianhill Secondary Independent School in KwaZulu-Natal, says while she found the paper to be fair, several of her learners complained that they did not have enough time to finish.

“We had 66 learners writing today, and several of them complained to me that they could not finish within the two-and-a-half-hour limit,” she said.

“For me the paper was of a good standard. There were some very tough questions, but the learners had a choice so hopefully they went for the questions that they were more comfortable with.”

However, Nxumalo says the learners found the paper, which was focused on literature, easier than the the first paper overall.

“They told me today’s paper was better than the first paper, and contained similar questions to the exemplar,” she said.
