The department of basic education recently posted documents providing drafts of new syllabuses and assessment procedures for every school subject in all grades — see www.education.gov.za.
These documents are what Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga called the “repackaged curriculum” — presumably meant to fill the vacuum arising from what she referred to at the same time as the death of outcomes-based education.
Implementation is supposed to start in January with grades R to three. The period for comment on the draft curriculum closes next week Monday (October 18).
