Taking their considerable satiric scalpel to that singular scourge of the airwaves, reality TV, is Durban husband-and-wife comedy duo Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert.
Their scintillating show, Reality Bites, returns to the city’s stage after a sold-out season last year. In the show the seasoned showbiz couple probes the global obsession with the instant celebrities spawned by that media malaise of our age, the reality television show. Aided by beatmaster DJ KingB, McIlroy and Bobbert, in the guise of their vacuous stage alter egos, Bruce and Charmaine Siringinson, set out to show you how to upgrade your personal brand and become the next Rebecca Black.
The Heritage Theatre, Hillcrest, from April 5 to May 1. Tickets are R195, which includes a two-course meal and the show, with preview ticket prices at R165 available for the first three performances of the run on April 5, 6 and 7. Showtimes are 7pm Tuesday to Saturday and 12.30pm on Sunday.
