CALL FOR NOMINATION OF BOARD MEMBERS FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT PRACTITIONERS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA
Proposed Registration Authority for Environmental Assessment Practitioners provided for in Section 24H of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), Act 107 of 1998.
The Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa was launched on 7 April 2011, when 802 individuals resolved, as founding members, to form the organisation. Nominations for Board members are now being called.
The Board of EAPASA will apply to the Minister of Water and Environmental Aff airs to be recognised as a Registration Authority in terms of Section 24H of the National Environmental Management Amendment Act (NEMA), Act 107 of 1998. Once EAPASA is recognised, the Minister will publish a date by which all EAPs practicing in terms of NEMA must be registered. This date will provide for a reasonable phase-in period of between 18 months and 3 years.
Nominations of individuals for the Board need to fulfil the criteria set out in the Constitution and must be submitted using the Board Nomination Form (available from www.eapsa.co.za or via the contact details below), together with the required supporting documentation. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
EAPASA Board Nominations must be received by 29 September 2011.
