Ten scholarships worth R40 000 each are available for black students wanting to study law next year at the University of Cape Town, the university announced this week.
The scholarships form part of UCT’s ‘Law 150 Endowment” programme. This refers to a fundraising campaign the university’s law faculty launched during its 150th anniversary in 2008.
This year the faculty has 34 students on scholarships and 26 of them are beneficiaries of this endowment. Since 2008 more than R2-million has been awarded in scholarships — R1.3-million from law alumni and the balance from law firms that have partnered with UCT.
Applications for the 2012 scholarships close on August 31. For more, email: [email protected].
