The healing power of laughter is a selling point in the promotion of a new work by Pieter-Dirk Uys.
The work is titled Adapt or Fly, and many of the city’s lists of cultural sections lead with Uys this week, portraying a host of familiar characters. The bumf sets the tone, telling us that Uys “celebrates 2012 as a year of radical change in South Africa — From the R100-million ANC centenary celebration in January right up that long winding road to Mangaung for the ANC December congress, the ruling party will be too busy fighting each other for personal wealth and political power to bother themselves about running a country.”
