The heart of our mission at Mhlathuze Water is to provide and expand affordable, sustainable, quality and reliable water services to stakeholders, improve quality of life and to contribute to development. It is for this reason we have prioritised a series of programmes and projects that we believe will help to maintain the dignity of our people in ensuring access to clean, drinkable water and decent sanitation facilities.
We are mindful of the critical role infrastructure development plays in the socio-economic development and growth of the country. Recently the department of basic education mandated us to implement a programme known as the Accelerated School Infrastructure Development Initiative, to supply schools with toilets and water, and we are currently providing these services to 174 schools.
Water services authorities we have relationships with include the City of Umhlathuze local Municipality, uThungulu District Municipality and uMkhanyakude District Municipality. Mhlathuze Water has been appointed as the implementing agent for the Jozini Water Scheme.
Recently we were appointed by the City of Mhlathuze municipality and Richards Bay Minerals to manage their bulk water and wastewater infrastructure. Previously managed by the private sector, this reflects the growth of the organisation and the faith our customers have in us.
We aim to achieve a competitive advantage through positioning the organisation as a leading provider of a full range of water and related services. Our core focus is on a more comprehensive approach to ensure the building of the capacity of our people for their own growth, and to improve service delivery both internally and externally. One of our main drivers of performance has been the continuous training, development and mentoring of our employees in order to enhance their abilities such that they are able to attain formal, relevant qualifications recognised by the National Qualifications Framework.”
