LOUIS LUYT’S Federal Alliance will be joined in the June 2 battle for seats in the National Assembly with two other parties with roots in the former homelands. The Dabalorivhuwa Patriotic Front was formed in 1998 by former civil servants of the one-time Venda homeland to fight pension issues. The Vukuzenzele Sekusile Party is based in the former KwaNdebele homeland. The two parties claim around 350000 supporters between them. The parties will not unite with the Federal Alliance, but their candidates will appear on the FA’s national list. The FA seems to be targetting homeland parties for support, having attracted Rocky Malebane-Metsing’s People’s Progressive Party, of the former Bophuthatswana, earlier this year.
