Tourists and residents of Rome will soon be able to enjoy a swim and a suntan in the heart of the eternal city.
Following the example of Paris and other European capitals, city officials have decided to add a beach on the banks of the River Tiber, Rome-based daily Il Messaggero reported on Thursday.
Fully equipped with swimming pools, showers, bars and sun-shielding umbrellas, the beach will be created in the heart of the city, a stone’s throw away from the Vatican and Piazza Navona.
Officials expect the beach to be inaugurated at the beginning of June and to remain open until August 7. – Sapa-DPA
