The Krugersdorp Regional Court has denied bail to Mulalo Sivhidzo, who is accused of killing her husband Avhatakali Netshisaulu, the son of City Press editor Mathatha Tsedu.
While the state had proved a prima facie case against her, the defence had failed to prove there were exceptional circumstances justifying the granting of bail, magistrate Mariette Louw found.
Sivhidzo’s five co-accused Ntambudzeni Mutsenene (29), Sello Johannes Arnold (28), Rodney Makhura (32), Setshaba Fokane (36) and Mashudu Mutobvu (30) appeared with her in the dock.
They will bring their own application for bail on Wednesday, said prosecutor Lebo Sibi.
Netshisaulu’s body was found in the boot of his burnt-out car in Muldersdrift on December 7.
It was initially thought he had been hijacked while driving from his North Riding home to see a business partner in Honeydew at 8pm that night. — Sapa
