Last-minute win for Rangers

Manning Rangers beat Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 in a Castle Premiership encounter at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.

Rangers got full points thanks to an injury-time goal by Phumlani ”BMX” Mkhize who came on for MacDonald Mukansi in the 88th minute.

The relegation candidates, nearly played into a goalless draw but the home side got a free kick taken by Mkhize who hit the woodwork on the first attempt but made no mistake on the second shot.

The score was 0-0 at the break.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Collins Chabalala and Fies Moloi found the back of the net for Celtic on different occasions but were both correctly judged as being offside.

Former Bafana Bafana right wing Mukansi made his debut in the starting 11 for Rangers and he showed that he still has a good touch by combining very well with Thabiso Hlalele, Siyabonga Siphika and Abram Isaks in the middle of the park.

This was Clive ”The Dog” Barker’s first match in charge of Rangers following the resignation of Ian Palmer earlier this week. – Sapa
