‘Exhausted’ Nickelback need a break

Canadian rock band Nickelback’s South African tour, which had been due to kick off on November 25, has been postponed due to the band members’ ”chronic exhaustion” following an extensive American and European tour, promoter Kusasa South Africa said on Monday.

Concerts scheduled for Dubai, China, Japan and Australia have also been postponed.

”The magnitude of [the tour] has taken its toll on the band members and has resulted that the band has severely depleted their ability to perform,” Kusasa said in a statement.

Nickelback, who shot to fame with the hit single How You Remind Me from their Silver Side Up album, would have performed at Sun City and in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Durban.

Tour organiser Duncan Heafield said: ”Regretfully and with sadness, in lengthy consultation with the band and its management, a decision has been made to postpone this year’s tour … This will allow the band to able to rest. We are certain we will be able to do the tour in the next couple of months.”

New dates for the tour will be announced shortly, Kusasa said.

Nickelback’s latest album, All the Right Reasons, has already sold more than 5,5-million copies worldwide.

Ticket holders have been urged to retain their current tickets pending the announcement of new dates in all cities. Refunds can also be obtained from Computicket.
