Golden Arrows could not have asked for two tougher fixtures to end their Absa Premiership campaign — and to top it all, they hold the key to the championship. Arrows travel to Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium on Wednesday night, where they face leaders SuperSport United, and then host second-placed Ajax Cape Town at Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
Black Leopards moved off the bottom of the Absa Premiership log after playing to a goalless draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows at Thohoyando Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Leopards, however, are still relegation candidates along with Jomo Cosmos and Thanda Royal Zulu, and the teams have only two more games to try to avoid relegation.
Jomo Cosmos’ Absa Premiership fate is in their own hands. Club owner and head coach Jomo Sono is confident Ezenkosi will beat relegation. Sono will not be pushing any panic buttons or putting any extra pressure on his players over the next 11 days when Ezenkosi’s fate will be decided after they play the other two relegation candidates.
Jomo Cosmos are not pushing the panic buttons … just yet. Ezenkosi suffered their ninth defeat of the season when they were beaten 3-1 away to Bloemfontein Celtic on the weekend, which sees them drop to 15th spot on the Absa Premiership with 22 points — the same number as bottom team Black Leopards.

A win for the Black Leopards on Wednesday will not get them out of the relegation zone and victory for Mamelodi Sundowns will not take them in to the top half of the Absa Premiership table. That is what both teams want and obviously won’t get. However, victory will take them closer to their destinations.
The Free State Cheetahs emphasised that they are top contenders to lift the Vodacom Cup title this year with a solid 34-20 win over the Pumas in Witbank on Friday night. In other matches, the Wildebeest beat the Griffons 33-7 in Welkom and a brace of tries by Wylie Human sealed another victory for Western Province.
