Public Works Minister honoured a controversial R500-million lease for police’s headquarters in Pretoria, the <i>Star</i> reported.
The Special Investigating Unit has confirmed that probes into the government acquisition of property constituted one of the largest by the outfit.
There was "nothing dodgy" about a multi-million rand property deal for new police offices in Pretoria, the Department of Public Works said on Monday.

The Department of Public Works has started on the business of revising the laws on expropriation, which became a matter of urgency following the African National Congress national conference last month. Officials of South Africa’s Parliament boasted on Monday that for the first time since 2003/04 the institution had received a clean bill of financial health from the Auditor General. There is, according to the secretary of Parliament, Zingile Dingani, no qualification and no matter of emphasis in the report.
The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) on Wednesday submitted a formal complaint about alleged fraud, theft and corruption at Parliament to the Public Protector and the National Prosecuting Authority. The complaint deals with contracts awarded to African Strategic Asset Protection for revamping and maintaining Parliament’s access and security system.
